What is Solution Focused Clinical Hypnotherapy at The Childrey Practice?
Hypnotherapy is typically a combination of Psychotherapy and Hypnosis. Solution Focused Hypnotherapy, as with all psychotherapy, is a collaborative process between the client and the therapist. It focuses on creating positive change and finding solutions for the future rather than analysing problems of the past. There are many different kinds of psychotherapy, all of which aim to help people overcome stress or emotional problems. It involves talking together to help clients overcome their difficulties. It is often referred to as a ‘talking treatment’. At The Childrey Practice a combination of the very best of modern psychotherapeutic techniques are used including:

Psychotherapy in itself is extremely beneficial and its effects are enhanced by the application of Hypnosis. Hypnosis is a natural state of focused attention. In the clinic setting it is usually induced by encouraging the client to become deeply relaxed. During the hypnotic state the subconscious mind is open to making beneficial change which the conscious mind may not be able to accept with direct suggestion.
What should I expect?
The initial consultation is designed to assess what you want to achieve, how hypnotherapy will help you and how many sessions you are likely to need so that an individual programme can be tailored to meet your needs. This lasts between 45 to 60 minutes.
Subsequent sessions will involve talking about the progress that you have made, providing you with tools to achieve your goals and getting you to process your thoughts in an effective and useful way. In most cases, guidance into a relaxed state of hypnosis or other visualisation techniques are also used. Subsequent sessions usually take between 50 and 60 minutes.
